The Legacy International Leadership Roundtable 2022 which held in Enugu State Nigeria on the 22nd Day of April, 2022 and was hosted by the Impactfield Global Youth Initiative (IGYI) in collaboration with the XcellentLegacy USA was a convergence of prospective global leaders to be inspired by great custodians of professionalism in Politics, Business, Administration, Career, Ministry and Education.
The Leadership Roundtable was specially designed to fire up the leadership potentials in youths and inspire them to greatness through effective leadership. This is in conformity to the statement of the 32nd president of the United States of America, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who once said ‘We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future’.
The event had over one hundred and fifty (150) participants from all walks of life covering eleven states in Nigeria and over seven countries of the world; professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs and youths who have the desire to rise and take actions towards redefining their purpose in an evolving society.
The speakers include Dr. Timothy Egbo (Washington DC), Ms. Mercy Besong (Dallas TX, USA), Barr. Dr. Christian Nneji (Netherlands), Barr. Nnenna Anozie (Enugu Nigeria), Pastor Nelson Onyekachi (Enugu Nigeria) and the convener, Mr. Solomon Okeke (Enugu Nigeria). Ms Ify Melody Ajumobi, (Solid 100.9 FM Enugu) judiciously anchored the various sessions.
The highlights of the event include plenary sessions by all the speakers, a panel session/Q&A, networking and lots of ‘aha’ moments.
The international president of IGYI, Amb. Gideon Okeke, opened the floor with a welcome address, x-raying importance of the event which underpins the need for effective personal, corporate and institutional leadership. He encouraged the participants to be wary of the statusquo and start taking actions, even as they learn cutting edge strategies for effective leadership and growth.
The plenary sessions opened with Barr Nnena Anozie, a Nigerian political activist. She twirled the chord with her life experience from the cradle and unveiled some of her pragmatic approaches to growth. She stressed that satisfaction is only found in doing what drives joy to your being. This begins with an intentional inward search to define one’s purpose before redefining it.
Barr Chris. C Nnaji (Ph.D.), in his speech, buttressed the need to commit oneself to learn and willingness to offer help to people within one’s reach. The inevitable principle of Branding as a success determinant was emphasized by Ms. Mercy Bessong, an American-based entrepreneur. She affirmed that our ideas can either be better or poorly sold out to prospective clients based on how brandy it is.
Pastor Nelson Onyekachi highlighted that within every product is the potency to fulfill its purpose. In the course of pursuing purpose, one should be sensitive to knowing people who should be part of it and those who should not. He further reinstated that nothing is worth your time, effort, and energy except your GOAL in life.
Leading by Growing as handled by Mr. Solomon Okeke, a young articulate personality and quality leadership strategist pointed out that learning begins by paying strict attention to service. He emphasized that people of value are irresistible. Tangible and Intangible growth is achieved by paying attention to your spiritual, intellectual, health, emotional intelligence, and financial growth.
Dr. Timothy Egbo struck the last chord by stating emphatically that “NO is NOT an answer to someone in a pursuit”. According to him, “there is always an exception to policies” hence, backing off at the first resistance on your journey to defining and redefining purpose is not an effective strategy.
The event was clamored by brainstorming and interactive session with the guest speakers. Participants were allowed to ask questions on issues relating to life and leadership.
Side attractions were lots of laughter, new friendships, free copies of documentary journals shared to all participants and a saxophone rendition by Mr. Harrison Ibaro (Saxoharry).
Worthy of note is that the event appealed to the consciousness of the participants that they could become more and do more. Like Myles Munroe, they could achieve any feat worth staking through the power of their untapped potential.
